The pandemic slowed things down for Three Cities and I needed a new creative outlet. Having always been a huge movie buff, and like so many others, being wowed as a kid at John Williams’ opening Bb as STAR WARS crawled across the screen, I wanted to take a stab at scoring some short films.
I met director Nick Matthys and composed, produced, and recorded a score for his short film Aphantasia.
Nick’s film was thrilling and I wanted the music to match his energy. Thus, score elements revolved around synthesizers bolstered by orchestral percussion, strings, and sound design. I fell in love with a lot of the Swedish EDM sounds hitting America in the early 2010s, becoming obsessed with supersaws, and this score gave me a chance to use them in an ambient, mood-setting capacity. Go to Sleep + Hallway + Office Dream + Hallway 2 and Book Boom are two of my personal favorites. Hope you enjoy!
